Friday Fun IV

It’s time for my {every other} Friday fun! I am hoping I have something to say more than once every other week as I move into the New Year, but for now, this works.

  1. Boston Training. It’s heeeere! As of Monday, we are 16 weeks out from my first Boston Marathon and training will be ramping right up. I ran right around 30 miles with some basic speed/tempo miles last week and should be in the same range this week. Strong base FTW!
  2. Brooks Goodies! Remember when I won Janae’s contest? Well, my goodies came this week and I love them!
  3. Boots. This time for me 🙂 I am obsessed with Frye and have had my eye on a pair of black casual boots for a while. We went to the store the other day and I ended up with these booties instead. They are much different than anything I have (and were a heck of alot less $$ than the boots).51982231-15bc-40d8-ae0e-ee11ee62194f(1)
  4. Stitch Fix. Speaking of new clothes, I got my first “fix”. I promised a few of you that I would post pics, fashion show style. I cut my face out of most of them because I am definitely not a model and I figured I would spare you the awkwardness.

Jeans. Return – too big in the waist and awkward length/cut

    Flowy Cardigan. Keep!

Twist Front Shirt. Return – kinda meh. Walter – Keep 🙂

Dress. Return – Cute but a little big and weirdly in between casual and dressy. Puppy photo bomb.

  5. Quiet House. We had an amazing holiday. The time in Peoria was lovely. We came home Christmas night and the family all made their way to Chicago at different times over the weekend. At one time we had 13 people staying with us (8 adults, 5 children) and the other nights we had some combination of different family members or friends. Our last guests left on Wednesday. I LOVE entertaining and having a house full of people, but I won’t pretend that it wasn’t really nice to spend the last two days with just us.
  6. Social Media semi-break. I didn’t plan to spend less time on Social Media in the last 2 weeks, but I found myself not really feeling like opening Twitter or my blog feed on a regular basis. I did still scroll through Instagram once a day or so since I love looking at the beautiful Christmas pictures. I drafted at least 3 blog posts in my head over the last few weeks, but never found the time to sit down and make them a reality. I feel a little disconnected from my online “world” but not in a way that bothers me in the least bit. I love keeping up with what everyone is doing, but I also know that I was much more present with the people in my *real* life and that is a very good thing.
  7. Race Planning. Last but not least, I am starting to get some idea of what the spring racing calendar will look like. I am still waiting confirmation from Kevin, but tentatively I will be running the Hero’s 5k in Greenville (!!) on February 1st and Run the Bluegrass half in Lexington, KY with Elizabeth and Molly on March 29th. The 5k will be a benchmark race to see where I am early in the Boston training cycle and the half is TBD on whether I will race or run as part of a long run while spending some quality time with two of my faves.

I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday and rang in the  New Year in whatever way makes you happiest. I will be here catching up on all of the blog posts that I missed in the last week as well as digging myself out of the 12″+ of snow 🙂

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! for KY! Just bought a top similar to your keeper. And I liked the black one? And Johanna gave me some Cole Haan shoes similar to yours but minus the ties (but I still haven’t worn them). Funny, my break gave me more time for social media. But i haven’t been on twitter as much.

Glad to hear you had a lovely Christmas! I’m with ya on cutting back on social media… I need to get better at it and be present more in real life. I’m equally obsessed with Frye… so many amazing boots! 🙂

Tell me what you think!
